BIG Kaiser Precision Tooling is making dramatic improvements to BIG Profit Maker, KAISER and Unilock repair services at its Illinois facility. These include bringing certain services in house that until recently had to be performed overseas, significant price reductions, eliminating charges for some commodity parts, and the addition of same-day services. 

GF Machining Solutions has appointed Scott Fosdick as its new Head of Market Region Americas. He joined GF Machining Solutions, previously known as Agie Charmilles, in 1994 and successfully worked for technical services in Japan before taking over as Service Manager for Asia. In 2001, Fosdick became the President of Agie Charmilles South China and achieved outstanding results until he left the company in 2007. He returned to GF Machining Solutions in May 2013 as Market Segment Manager for Aerospace and Automotive in Asia, prior to his most recent promotion.

Gleason Corporation has broken ground for a new manufacturing facility in the Bengalaru Aerospace Park Industrial Area located in Bangalore, India. Gleason has long had a presence in the Indian market, first through representatives and then through Gleason Works (India) Private Limited, established in 1995. Gleason Works India has machine and cutting tool manufacturing operations in Bangalore, a cutting tools service center in Chennai, and sales & service offices in Delhi, Jamshedpur, Mumbai and Pune.   

Mahr Federal’s Alexander N. Tabenkin was presented with the ASME 2014 Dedicated Service Award for Standardization and Testing during the ASME B46 meeting on October 24, 2014, at NIST Headquarters in Gaithersburg, Md. Tabenkin was recognized for his outstanding service to the Society, based on his contributions and dedication spanning over 23 years in the field of surface metrology.

The National Institute for Metalworking Skills and the Gene Haas Foundation have announced that they will partner again this year to help schools prepare more students for success in precision manufacturing careers. The 2015 GHF-NIMS Credentialing Scholarship Program will provide eligible secondary and post-secondary institutions with grants to build high-quality technical programs that provide students with foundational skills and industry-recognized credentials.

Prima Power Laserdyne has announced plans to install a LASERDYNE 430BD system at the new Prima Power Technology Center in Suzhou, China. The new Technology Center will provide laser process development for Asian customers seeking solutions to a wide range of fabricating challenges. A full staff of Chinese speaking engineers, salespeople, and management are resident at the center and will coordinate Laserdyne’s participation.

Stefan Fickenscher has been appointed Managing Director of TRUMPF Canada. Fickenscher joined TRUMPF GmbH + Co. KG in 2002 and held various positions in Germany before transferring to TRUMPF Inc. in Farmington, Conn., in 2011 as Product Manager, TruLaser product group. In his new role he reports directly to Burke Doar, senior vice president of TRUMPF Inc.
