Acme Manufacturing Company has announced the retirement of Glen Carlson Jr., Chairman of Acme, after 58 years of service. He will continue as Chairman Emeritus. Glen joined Acme in 1958 with responsibilities to manage and direct Acme’s sales and manufacturing operations and advanced to vice president, president, chairman and owner of the 106-year-old family-owned company. In addition, Acme has announced that Glen A. (“Fritz”) Carlson III, the fourth generation family member who has been with Acme for more than 32 years, was appointed President & CEO and majority shareholder.

Mahr Federal announced it will provide a Silver Level sponsorship to Illini Motorsports, a University of Illinois-sponsored student organization. As part of the sponsorship, the company will donate a range of gaging equipment. Formula SAE teams like Illini Motorsports compete annually in various places all over the world. In their most recent season, the Illini team car finished third out of 80 teams at Formula SAE Lincoln.

OGP (Optical Gaging Products), a division of Quality Vision International (QVI), is pleased to announce the appointment of Tom Groff to Vice President of Sales for North America. Groff has served as OGP’s North American Sales Manager since 2007. In making the announcement, OGP President R. Stephen Flynn cited Groff’s role in successfully launching a series of innovative new metrology systems and software for OGP in North America. TRUMPF has founded a venture capital company for funding technology start-ups. TRUMPF Venture GmbH began operations effective July 1, 2016. The aim of the company is to fund promising young companies that want to play a major role in shaping the future of industry. Over the coming five years, TRUMPF Venture GmbH will establish an investment portfolio of around 40 million euros.
