Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH)

Under REACH, articles manufactured in, and imported to, the European Union require consideration for the substances they contain. Producers and importers must register substances (including pre-registration for phase-in substances) in articles meeting three criteria:

• Are intended to release the substance under normal and foreseeable conditions of use;

• Contain more than 1 tonne of the substance per calendar year for all articles of all types that are intended to release that substance per producer or importer

• Have a use for which the substance has not yet been registered
