Barbara Linke studied Mechanical Engineering at the RWTH Aachen University and worked with Prof. Fritz Klocke at the Laboratory for Machine Tools and Production Engineering WZL in the group of “Grinding Technology.”  Ms. Linke finished her Ph.D. thesis on dressing of vitrified bonded grinding wheels in 2007.
 
From 2007 to 2011 she worked as group overlapping post-doc researcher on tooling engineering and accomplished a research circle on that topic with 22 industrial partners.  Today, she is a research fellow at UC Berkeley at Prof. Dornfeld’s Laboratory for Manufacturing and Sustainability. She has a research grant from the German Research Foundation DFG and works on the Life Cycle Management of abrasive tools.  In 2009 she received the F.W. Taylor Medal from The International Academy for Production Engineering CIRP and is an active Research Affiliate of the CIRP.
