Stephen Luckowski is Chief, Materials, Manufacturing and Prototype Technology Division, for the Armament Research, Development and Engineering Center (ARDEC), Picatinny Arsenal, N.J.
His background includes nearly 20 years of experience in managing manufacturing technology programs associated with welding, machining and materials, particularly advanced materials such as titanium. He also holds multiple patents in the area of welding.
Mr. Luckowski is responsible for organizational strategic planning. His strength and continued focus is in establishing manufacturing process improvements in the prototype development of weapons systems and components, to help reduce system costs as designs transition to production.
An active member of the American Welding Society (AWS), Mr. Luckowski chairs the D1.9 Structural Titanium Committee and was instrumental in developing the American Welding Society (AWS) D1.9/D1.9M Structural Welding Code—Titanium, released in July 2007. He also serves on the G2D Welding Titanium Committee, the A5K Titanium Filler Metal Committee and the National Executive Subcommittee for Structural Welding.
In addition to his responsibilities for the Army, Mr. Luckowski previously served in the U.S. Army Reserves leaving the service at the grade of Major.
Mr. Luckowski graduated cum laude from Drexel University, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, with a Bachelors of Science in materials engineering.
