AMT elected its 2006-2007 officers and directors today at its 2006 Annual Meeting in Las Vegas, Nevada
The Board of Directors of the association, which represents some 360 American manufacturers of machine tools, manufacturing machinery and related products, elected Bradley L. Lawton, President, Star Cutter Company, Farmington Hills, Mich., as Chairman. He replaces Douglas K. Woods, President, Parlec International, Parlec Inc., Fairport, N.Y. Mr. Woods will now serve the association as an Ex-Officio member of its Board of Directors.
The Board elected Richard P. Bodine, Jr., Chairman, Bodine Assembly & Test Systems, Bridgeport, Conn., to serve as First Vice Chairman.
Doug Currie, President & C.E.O., Erie Press Systems, Erie, Pa., will serve the association as Second Vice Chairman and Treasurer during the coming year.
Daniel D. Janka, President, Cincinnati Machine, LLC, MAG Industrial Automation Systems, Hebron, Ky., will serve as Secretary.
Newly elected to a three-year term as a member of the association’s Board of Directors is Eugene R. Haffely, Group President – Assembly Systems Group of Assembly & Test Worldwide Inc., Dayton, Ohio. Re-elected to three-year terms as members of the Board of Directors are J. Patrick Ervin, President and C.E.O., Hardinge Inc., Elmira, N.Y., and Ronald F. Schildge, President, Transmares Corp., Annandale, N.J.
Bradley L. Lawton is President of Star Cutter Company, Farmington Hills, Mich. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Michigan State University. He has been an active member of the AMT Government Relations Committee since 1998, and served as its Chairman from 1999 to 2001. He has held leadership positions in the United States Cutting Tool Institute and the Michigan Tooling Association.
Richard P. Bodine, Jr. is Chairman of the Board of The Bodine Corp., Bridgeport, Conn. He joined the company in 1973, after graduating from Lehigh University. Mr. Bodine was a member of the AMT Government Relations Committee from 1995 to 2004 and served on the Custom Automated Systems Group from 1995 to 1998. He is active in many community activities and is Chairman of the Board – United Way of Eastern Fairfield County and was Board President of the Central Connecticut Coast YMCA.
Doug Currie is President and Chief Executive Officer of Erie Press Systems, Erie, Pa., a position he has held since 2003. He had earlier held sales, marketing and management positions with the company and with the Ford Motor Co., Olin Corp., and Van Air Systems. Mr. Currie served on AMT’s Forming & Fabricating Group in 2002 and 2003, on the Global Marketing, Sales & Service Committee from 2000 to 2001, and is currently Chairman of the Government Relations Committee. He holds a degree in mechanical engineering and a master’s degree in Business Administration from Columbia University.
Daniel D. Janka is President, Cincinnati Machine, LLC, MAG Industrial Automation Systems, Hebron, Ky. Prior to that he was Executive Vice President of Cincinnati Lamb, a company comprised of the merged Cincinnati Machine and Lamb Technicon operations. He joined Cincinnati Milacron’s Machine Tool Group in 1984. Mr. Janka is a member of AMT’s Government Relations Committee. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering & Technology from Southern Illinois University and attended the University of Cincinnati’s Advanced Management program.
J. Patrick Ervin is President and Chief Executive Officer of Hardinge Inc., Elmira, N.Y. His career at Hardinge began in 1979 and he has held positions in sales and marketing, manufacturing, and engineering. Mr. Ervin served on the AMT Government Relations Committee in 1999-2000. He holds a master’s degree in Business Administration from Syracuse University.
Ronald F. Schildge is President of Transmares Corp., Shrewsbury, N.J. He was also instrumental in starting up Eitel Presses Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary, in 1973, and serves as its President. He has a senior management role in several other businesses and affiliates. Mr. Schildge is a graduate of Cornell University. He served on the AMT Economics & Statistics Committee from 1989 to 1996 and was Chairman from 1993 to 1996. He also was a member of the Government Relations Committee from 1996 to 1999, and the Global Marketing, Sales & Service Committee from 1999 to 2003, serving as Chairman from 2001 to 2003.
Eugene R. Haffely is Group President – Assembly Systems Group of Assembly & Test Worldwide Inc., Dayton, Ohio. He was a co-founder of Advanced Assembly Automation (founded in 1984) and served as Vice President of Operations until 1996. Mr. Haffely then served as President of Hansford Manufacturing, a Division of DT Industries and as the Corporate Vice President of Operations for DT Industries from 1997 through 1999 when he returned to AAA as President. Mr. Haffely graduated Cum Laude from the University of Wisconsin with a bachelor’s degree in Computer and Electrical Engineering. He served on the AMT Custom Automated Systems Group from 1998 to 2005 and was Chairman from 2003 to 2005.
