Arun Mahajan to head AMT Technical Centre in India

September 4, 2007 - Arun Mahajan has been named General Manager of the Chennai Technology and Service Centre to be opened early next year in Chennai, India, by AMT-The Association For Manufacturing Technology. The Centre will help U.S. builders of advanced manufacturing equipment sell and service their products in the rapidly growing manufacturing market in India.
Mr. Mahajan will first be responsible for getting the Centre up and running to serve AMT member companies in India. Plans call for a wide selection of services for members including showroom space, support for service personnel and spare parts storage, and general sales support. AMT has similar centers in Shanghai, China, and Monterrey, Mexico.
Mr. Mahajan most recently worked as a Regional Manager for Francis Klein Group, a major national machine tool agent/manufacturer in India. He has 13 years of experience in marketing, business development, sales & service operations, and customer relationship management. He has been closely associated with Indian automobile companies and worked with key people responsible for new projects.
He has experience with sales activity, from inquiry generation, to making technical presentations, to price negotiations, as well as all post-order project management activities such as project scheduling, design approvals, and final machine acceptance.
Mr. Mahajan also has automobile component manufacturing experience, and was responsible for design and product development activities. He is a mechanical engineer with specialization in tool engineering. In addition to his technical background, he is a Post Graduate in Marketing Management.
AMT-The Association For Manufacturing Technology (founded in 1902 as the National Machine Tool Builders’ Association) supports and promotes the U.S. machine tool industry. The association provides U.S. builders of manufacturing systems with the latest information on technical developments, trade and marketing opportunities, and economic issues. It also gathers and disseminates information about world markets, promotes its members’ products in those markets, and acts as a representative on manufacturing technology matters to governments and trade organizations throughout the world.
AMT also owns and operates the International Manufacturing Technology Show (IMTS), held every even-numbered year in Chicago. IMTS 2008, to be held at McCormick Place, September 8-13, 2008, will be the first IMTS to be held on a new six-day schedule. It is among the largest industrial expositions in the world and the largest of its type in the Americas. This giant trade show attracts nearly 100,000 buyers and sellers from over 100 countries. More than 1,200 exhibiting companies participate in this extravaganza of the finest manufacturing equipment and related technology in the world.
