AMT - The Association For Manufacturing Technology elects new Board of Directors and Officers
AMT elected its 2007-2008 officers and directors today at its 2007 Annual Meeting in Santa Ana Pueblo, New Mexico.
The Board of Directors of the association, which represents over 400 American manufacturers of machine tools, manufacturing machinery and related products, elected Doug Currie, President & CEO, Erie Press Systems, Erie, Pa., as Chairman. He replaces Bradley L. Lawton, President, Star Cutter Company, Farmington Hills, Mich. Mr. Lawton will now serve the association as an Ex-Officio member of its Board of Directors.
The Board elected Daniel D. Janka, President, Cincinnati Technologies, MAG Industrial Automation Systems, Hebron, Ky., to serve as First Vice Chairman.
Ronald F. Schildge, President, Transmares Corp., Annandale, N.J, will serve the association as Second Vice Chairman and Treasurer during the coming year.
Kim W. Beck, President & CEO, Automatic Feed Co., Napoleon, Ohio, will serve as Secretary.
Newly elected to three-year terms as members of the association’s Board of Directors are R. Stephen Flynn, President, Optical Gaging Products, Inc., Rochester, N.Y., and Michael Powell, President, Master Work Holding, Inc., Morganton, N.C. Re-elected to a three-year term as a member of the Board of Directors is Doug Currie, President and CEO, Erie Press Systems, Erie, Pa. Earlier, Kim W. Beck, President & CEO, Automatic Feed Co., Napoleon, Ohio, was appointed to fill an unexpired one-year term on the Board of Directors, and Carl Reed, President & CEO, Abbott Workholding Products, Manhattan, Kan., was appointed to fill an unexpired two-year term.
Doug Currie is President and Chief Executive Officer of Erie Press Systems, Erie, Pa., a position he has held since 2003. He had earlier held sales, marketing, and management positions with the company and with the Ford Motor Co., Olin Corp., and Van Air Systems. Mr. Currie served on AMT’s Forming & Fabricating Group in 2002 and 2003, on the Global Marketing, Sales & Service Committee from 2000 to 2001, and is currently Chairman of the Government Relations Committee. He holds a degree in mechanical engineering and a master’s degree in business administration from Columbia University. Daniel D. Janka is President, Cincinnati Technologies, MAG Industrial Automation Systems, Hebron, Ky. Prior to that he was Executive Vice President of Cincinnati Lamb, a company comprised of the merged Cincinnati Machine and Lamb Technicon operations. He joined Cincinnati Milacron’s Machine Tool Group in 1984. Mr. Janka is a member of AMT’s Government Relations Committee. He holds a bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering & technology from Southern Illinois University and attended the University of Cincinnati’s Advanced Management program.
Ronald F. Schildge is President of Transmares Corp., Annandale, N.J. He was also instrumental in starting up Eitel Presses, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary, in 1973, and serves as its President. He has a senior management role in several other businesses and affiliates. Mr. Schildge is a graduate of Cornell University. He served on the AMT Economics & Statistics Committee from 1989 to 1996 and was Chairman from 1993 to 1996. He also was a member of the Government Relations Committee from 1996 to 1999, and the Global Marketing, Sales & Service Committee from 1999 to 2003, serving as Chairman from 2001 to 2003.
Kim W. Beck is President & CEO of Automatic Feed Co., Napoleon, Ohio. He joined Automatic Feed as a salesman in 1975 and became President in 1982. A graduate of Hillsdale College, he is involved with many civic associations. He has been an active member of AMT and has served on several committees of the association. Mr. Beck earlier served on the AMT Board of Directors from 1993 to 2003, and was Chairman of the Board in 2000-2001.
R. Stephen Flynn is President, Optical Gaging Products, Inc., Rochester, N.Y. He attended his first International Manufacturing Technology Show in 1974 as an Industrial Engineer with Hyster Co. After spending 18 years as a machine tool distributor he joined Brown & Sharpe Grinding Machines Inc. as President and CEO and then moved to Optical Gaging Products in 1994. Mr. Flynn served on the then-International Trade Committee from 1998 to 2000 and is presently a member of the association’s Show Committee.
Michael Powell is President, Master Work Holding, Inc., Morganton, N.C. He began working in a machine shop after school as a teenager and “I was hooked,” he says. He has 35 years of industry experience with companies manufacturing products ranging from heavy equipment to aerospace components. In 1988 he founded Master Work Holding, which supplies custom prismatic workholding equipment worldwide. Mr. Powell currently chairs the association’s Workholding Product Group.
Carl Reed is President & CEO, Abbott Workholding Products, Manhattan, Kan. He purchased the company in 1990 after serving in various positions in semi-conductor manufacturing and aerospace component firms. He is an industrial technology graduate of Arizona State University and a former naval aviator. Mr. Reed is a member of the AMT Government Relations Committee and the Workholding Product Group.
