Machine tool consumption up 13.5% in February
February U.S. machine tool consumption totaled $242.10 million, according to AMT - The Association For Manufacturing Technology and AMTDA, the American Machine Tool Distributors’ Association. This total, as reported by companies participating in the USMTC program, was up 13.5% from January and up 37.9% from the total of $175.52 million reported for February 2004. These numbers and all data in this report are based on the totals of actual data reported by companies participating in the USMTC program.
"Historically, when February results outpace January, machine tool orders are in an acceleration mode," said John B. Byrd III, AMT President. "That is why I believe our industry, and manufacturing overall, will see continued growth in 2005."
