Congress Approves R&D Tax Credit Extension

Congress overwhelmingly passed a five-year extension of the $1,000 per child tax credit, marriage penalty relief and the expanded 10% tax bracket, and a one-year extension of AMT relief for middle-income families (H.R. 1308).  All of these provisions expire December 31, 2004. The legislation also extends through 2005 the R&D tax credit (which expired June 30, 2004).  R&D tax credit extension was also included in both the House and Senate versions of Foreign Sales Corporation/Extraterritorial Income (FSC/ETI replacement) legislation (H.R. 4520).
