October 2007 - The House included $3.0 million in continued project support for the Smart Machine Platform Initiative in its 2008 Defense appropriation bill. Funding was not included in the companion bill in the Senate.
Both the House and Senate bills preserved and adequately funded the Commerce Department’s Manufacturing Extension Partnership and Technology Innovation Program (formerly known as the Advanced Technology Program).
Differences between the House and Senate bills will be worked out in a conference before the end of the year.
