November 13, 2007 - In a major victory for AMT, President Bush has signed into law the FY 2008 Defense Appropriation which includes $3 million in 2008 funding for the Smart Machine Platform Initiative (SMPI).
SMPI seeks to develop the next generation of internal sensing and control systems to create instructions and integrate them, in real time, into manufacturing processes. The end goal of this technology is “first part correct” manufacturing that reduces costs, waste and production delays. SMPI is managed by TechSolve, the Cincinnati-based Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP) center with which AMT is partnering on the SMPI research.
Find out about AMT's Government Relations priorities to strengthen U.S. manufacturing.
