AMT Testifies in Support of Product Liability Reform

March 15, 2006 -  James H. Mack, Vice President of Tax & Economic Policy, AMT, and Elizabeth Sitterly, Legal Counsel, Giddings & Lewis, testified before the House Judiciary Committee's Commercial and Administrative Law Subcommittee in support of  "The Workplace Goods Job Growth and Competitiveness Act of 2005" (H.R. 3509), which would establish a 12-year federal statute-of-repose for workplace capital goods.  Over 80% of AMT members' product liability litigation would be eliminated by passage.  It is a major Government Relations priority for AMT.

H.R. 3509 was introduced by Subcommittee members Cong. Steve Chabot (R-OH)and Howard Coble (R-NC) along with Cong. Henry Hyde (R-IL) and Jim Moran (D-VA).  NAM, which has endorsed H.R. 3509, also testified.  The full House Judiciary Committee is scheduled to consider H.R. 3509 on March 29.
