March 28, 2007 - A new Pacific Research Institute (PRI) study by the American Justice Partnership, Jackpot Justice: The True Cost of America's Tort System, shows the true cost of the current tort system to be staggering. The study calculates a "Tort Tax" of $9,827 for a family of four.
In a March 27 press release highlighting the PRI study, the National Association of Manufacturers calls on Congress to act to fix a system that seriously jeopardizes American manufacturers' competitiveness in the global marketplace.
