May 23, 2007 -- Japanese machine tools maker Takamatsu Machinery Co has received an order to build 50 machine tools worth some 300 mln Japanese yen ($2.5 mln/1.8 mln euro) for an unnamed small-size engines maker in Shenzhen, southern China, it was reported on May 23, 2007. The value of the order is the biggest that Takamatsu Machinery has ever received from a Chinese enterprise.
Takamatsu Machinery is currently strengthening its sales in China in anticipation of the 2008 Beijing Olympics and the 2010 World Expo in Shanghai. The company opened a sales office in the country in April 2007. Meanwhile, Takamatsu Machinery will donate in June 2007 one machine tool to Vietnam's Hanoi University of Technology (HUT). Through the move, the company would like to gain recognition in the country, the company's president Kiyoshi Takamatsu said.
