July 18, 2007 -- South Korea's third-largest builder, Hyundai Engineering & Construction Co., said Wednesday that it has clinched a US$713 million order to build a co-generation power plant in southern Kuwait. The plant, subcontracted under lead contractor Mitsui & Co., Japan's second-largest trading company, will be part of an electricity generation and water desalination project in the city of Shuaiba North. The Kuwait Ministry of Electricity and Water awarded the order to Mitsui & Co. in late June, Hyundai Engineering said in a filing with the Korea Exchange. Under the deal, the South Korean builder will complete the plant by early 2010, it said.
