August 17, 2007 -- Industrias Romi S.A., a Brazilian market leader in machine tools, plastic injection molding machines and rough and machined cast iron parts, announces to its shareholders and the market in general that the Board of Directors, at its meeting held on August 16, 2007, elected Mr. Livaldo Aguiar dos Santos to the post of Chief Executive Officer of the Company, this position having been exercised on a cumulative basis by Mr. Americo Emilio Romi Neto, who remains as Chairman of the Board of Directors.
The election of Mr. Livaldo Aguiar dos Santos is part of a series of measures being implemented to strengthen the Company's corporate governance practices, among which is the listing of Romi's common shares and adhesion to Bovespa's Novo Mercado regulations on March 23, 2007. Mr. Livaldo Aguiar dos Santos is 54, graduated in Mechanical Engineering from the Universidade Estadual de Campinas -- UNICAMP (SP) and has a postgraduate degree in Business Management from GE Corporate University, Crottonville (NY), United States. His professional experience includes 15 years in management posts in engineering capital goods and logistics companies.
