Harris Picks Up $30 Million Contract for F-22 Work

August 21, 2007 -- Melbourne-based Harris Corp. has received a $30 million contract from Lockheed Martin Corp. to produce high-speed fiber-optic communications equipment for the F-22 Raptor fighter-jet fleet, Harris said Monday. Harris' latest five-year deal for the F-22 brings the total value of the work to $280 million since 1991. The F-22 cockpit system is produced by Harris' Government Communications unit in Melbourne. Harris also said it has received a Navy deal worth up to $78 million for replacement equipment for the Falcon tactical radios used by U.S. and NATO forces in Iraq and Afghanistan. Harris' RF Communications unit in Rochester, N.Y., is lead on the work. Lockheed is the prime contractor on the F-22 Raptor.
