ThyssenKrupp Takes Over Dutch Stokvis Plastics

August 30, 2007 -- German ThyssenKrupp Services AG, the services unit of local steel and engineering group ThyssenKrupp AG, has bought Dutch plastics company Stokvis Plastics BV for an undisclosed sum, ThyssenKrupp said on August 30, 2007. The takeover, effective August 1, 2007, aims to expand ThyssenKrupp's activities and strengthen its position on the material services market in western Europe. Stokvis, with about 50 employees, generated some 12 mln euro ($16.3 mln) in sales in 2006.

Stokvis Plastics specializes in the marketing, distribution and processing of semifinished plastics and other custom-tailored solutions for plastic panels, sheeting and piping with special emphasis on customer consultancy and service. Through the acquisition of Stokvis, ThyssenKrupp gained access to the plastics services business, which it plans to develop mainly in the Benelux countries, Werner Eschbach, executive board member of ThyssenKrupp Materials International, said.
