September 13, 2007 -- Italian stainless steel tube producer Tubificio di Terni, part of ThyssenKrupp Acciai Speciali Terni, is planning to raise its production capacity to 80,000 tonnes/year by 2008, a company source tells Steel Business Briefing.
The plant currently produces 65,000 t/y and plans to increase its capacity by installing more equipment which will enable the company to extend its product range, length and productivity. Further details regarding the company’s plans were not available by SBB’s deadline. The plant currently produces round tubes in the range 7.5-80mm diameter, as well as square and rectangular tubes, in 300 and 400 series stainless grades. End-uses include automotive exhaust pipes.
The tubemaker expects its turnover in 2007 to reach €227m, which would be a 77% increase compared to 2006’s €128m.
