Nissan Autoparts Suppliers Expanding Sales to Toyota Group

September 21, 2007 -- Some autoparts suppliers connected mainly to Nissan Motor Co. are increasing sales of components to the Toyota Motor Corp. group in an effort to diversify their revenue sources.

Unipres Corp., which this month is starting to produce forged parts for 8,500 automatic transmissions a month at a subsidiary in Guangzhou, China, plans to begin supplying the local plant of Aisin AW Industries Co., an Aisin Seiki Co. subsidiary based in Tianjin. It will be the first time that Unipres parts will be used in Toyota vehicles.

Automotive interior parts maker Kasai Kogyo Co. put in operation in July a new plant in Shiga Prefecture to produce plastic interior components for Toyota group automaker Daihatsu Motor Co. In addition, the firm is considering adding capacity at another plant in central Japan to raise parts supplies to Toyota.

Meanwhile, Yorozu Corp. is in the process of boosting supplies of suspension components to Daihatsu from its Oita Prefecture factory in Kyushu.
