Georgia Superabrasive Tooling Introduces Minicerts

October 5, 2007 -- A revolutionary and more cost effective product to replace Mini Tips. MiniCerts provide a greater depth of cut and feed rates, when compared to Mini Tips.

Georgia Superabrasive has created a new cartridge tool holding system which provides an economical way to take advantage of the enhanced performance characteristics of full-top PCBN cutting tools for hard turning applications. Increase productivity by replacing your PCBN mini-tip inserts with full-top PCBN - remove more material without the risk of mini-tip melt-off due to running dry or Fracture due to Interrupted cuts. Machine through interrupted cuts on gears and splines with no risk of mini-tip destruction.

GST's full-top CBN inserts are ideal for the hard-turning of tool steels 45Rc to 65Rc+ Class 20 to 40 Cast Irons. Our inserts allow machining speeds up to 600+ SFM @65Rc or 3000SFM on Cast Irons, chip loads to .010 IPR, with depth of cut to .045" And finishes to <5Ra.

The key to full-top CBN inserts being the best choice for hard-turning applications is its enhanced performance due to superior strength (no brazed joint), sharp edges and fine grain CBN. These unique properties enable higher machining rates, faster metal removal, easy chip control, as well as the ability to finish components in one pass while retaining surface quality. Not only is machine productivity improved but full-top CBN inserts eliminate the problems of mini-tip melt off due to overheating and mini-tip destruction due to interrupted cuts. Higher machine productivity translates directly into lower cost per part. Companies that currently use mini-tips for hard-turning or grinding operations to finish hardened parts can now realize an overall savings.
