December 4, 2007 -- TOKYO, Dec 4 Asia Pulse - Mitsubishi Steel Mfg Co. (TSE:5632) is to invest roughly 600 million yen (US$5.4 million) to double the production capacity for turbocharger nozzle vanes at its base in Thailand.
MSM (Thailand) Co. will install additional lost-wax casters and machining equipment, increasing its output capacity by 35 per cent this fiscal year and doubling it in fiscal 2008 to the level of 2.2 million nozzle vanes a month.
Mitsubishi Steel makes turbocharger nozzle vanes for diesel engines. The company transferred production to Thailand in fiscal 2003 to lower its manufacturing costs.
The entire output was shipped to Japan at first, but in recent years European and Chinese demand has increased with the popularization of diesel engines. The increased production capacity will be used primarily to supply nozzle vanes to markets outside Japan.
