December 12, 2007 -- Manufacturer and designer of aircraft engines Pratt & Whitney, a business unit of United Technologies Corp (NYSE:UTX), announced on Tuesday (11 December) that US Airways has selected the International Aero Engines (IAE) V2500 to power up to 153 new Airbus A320 family aircraft.
The order is valued at over USD420m to Pratt & Whitney, not including options. The order includes engines for 78 firm aircraft and will include the SelectOne build standard of the V2500.
IAE is a multinational aero engine consortium whose shareholders comprise Pratt & Whitney, Rolls-Royce, the Japanese Aero Engines Corporation and MTU Aero Engines.
The deliveries under the order are scheduled to begin in November 2008.
