December 13, 2007 -- Car maker PT Astra Daihatsu Motor (ADM) said it will build a spare part center with an investment of Rp60 billion (US$6.66 million) in Bekasi to improve efficiency in supply to its car assembling plant.
ADM Vice President Sudirman M.R. said the part center in the MM2100 Industrial Estate is designed to become a genuine part logistic center for domestic and export markets.
So far parts for ADM have been supplied by 160 local vendors and two foreign vendors - Daihatsu Motr Co. Ltd in Japan and Perodua in Malaysia, Sudirman said.
ADM reported a 67.4 per cent increase in car sales s to 4,784 units in November from 2,857 units in the previous month bringing its total sales to 46,727 units in the first 11 months of this year or a 67.7 per cent increase from the same period last year.
Last year, Daihatsu had the fifth largest share of the market in the country.
