December 20, 2007 -- Denso Corp. , an auto parts maker affiliated with Toyota Motor Corp. , is considering building a plant in eastern Japan to cope with expanding production by automakers, Denso President Koichi Fukaya said Thursday.
Details remain to be decided.
Honda Motor Co. plans to open a vehicle assembly plant in Yorii, Saitama Prefecture, north of Tokyo, in 2010. Toyota and Suzuki Motor Corp. are also moving to boost domestic production.
Denso has been actively expanding production. In August, the company started operations at a new plant in Inabe, Mie Prefecture, central Japan.
In addition, the company will expand capacity at its plant in Kitakyushu, Fukuoka Prefecture, southern Japan, by June 2008. It also plans to start producing high-performance electronics parts such as anti-skid vehicle tilt sensors at its plant in Chitose, Hokkaido, in April 2009.
