January 10, 2008 -- The MHI Aerospace Vietnam Co Ltd, (MHIVA), a subsidiary of the Japanese conglomerate Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. (MHI), officially received an investment certificate at a ceremony held by the Hanoi Export Processing and Industrial Zones Authority in Hanoi on 10 January.
The MHIVA will invest 11.2m US dollars in building a factory to manufacture commercial aircraft components with a capacity of 500 sets per year. The factory will be located in the Thang Long Industrial Park, a zone jointly built by Japanese and Vietnamese companies some 16 km northwest of Hanoi's centre.
According to the company's plan, the factory and related facilities will be built in 2008, with the trial production period lasting from January-May 2009 and with mass production going into effect by June 2009.
