January 14, 2008 -- AUBURN HILLS, Mich., BorgWarner today announced the promotion of Tom Tan to the position of Managing Director, China. In his new position, Tom serves as the senior representative for BorgWarner in China responsible for BorgWarner China Holding Company, customer and government relations as well as corporate functions and shared services departments. He will lead the growth of BorgWarner business in China and will continue to build the BorgWarner image and brand in this fast growing market and serve as the company's spokesperson in China. He chairs the China Steering Committee that coordinates across BorgWarner operations in China and is a member of the China Technical Center Steering Committee.

Tom joined BorgWarner in 1995 in the finance area of TorqTransfer Systems. He moved into roles of increasing responsibility within TorqTransfer Systems as Controller of our joint venture, Beijing Warner Gear; Controller for TTS Asia; and Manager of Business Development for TTS Asia. He was named General Manager of BorgWarner TTS Beijing in 2003 and has successfully managed the growth of that business, increasing its sales seven-fold over the past few years.
Tom received his undergraduate diploma from the School of Building Material, TongJi University (formally Shanghai College of Building Material) in Shanghai, China and his MBA from the University of St. Thomas in Minnesota, USA. Tom is also a graduate of the Stanford Executive Program, California, USA.
