January 25, 2008 -- Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction Co., South Korea's top power equipment maker, said Friday it has won a 120 billion won (US$127 million) order to improve the performance of a nuclear power plant in southeastern South Korea.
Under the deal with Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power Co., Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction plans to complete work to improve the No. 2 reactor of the Uljin nuclear power plant, 330 kilometers southeast of Seoul, by December 2011, Doosan Heavy said in a statement.
Work on the plant's No. 1 reactor will be completed by June 2012, the company added.
Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction will join hands with France's Alstom S.A. to carry out the order, the South Korean company said.
Last November, Doosan Heavy Industries received a $100 million order from Australian Eraring Energy to upgrade the Eraring power station in Australia, jointly with Power Projects International pty.
Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power is a wholly owned unit of South Korea's state-run electricity company, Korea Electric Power Corp.
