February 5, 2008 -- Taipei, Feb. 5, 2008 (CENS)--On Feb. 1, Quick-Tech Machinery Co., Ltd., one of Taiwan's most professional manufacturers of CNC (computerized numerically controlled) lathes, signed a strategic-alliance agreement with Mitsubishi Electric of Japan at Quick-Tech's headquarters in Tainan Technology Industrial Park, southern Taiwan.

The deal was struck by Quick-Tech managing director K.C. Jacky Huang, Quick-Tech managing director and Katsunari Mazaki, senior vice president and general manager of Mitsubishi Electric Taiwan Co.'s factory automation division.

This is the first time for Quick-Tech to sign a deal with key component supplier to upgrade manufacturing techniques. In the past, Quick-Tech concentrated on the production of open-architecture personal computer-based CNC lathes.

According to the deal, Quick-Tech will procure NT$100 million (US$3.1 million at US$1:NT$32.1) worth of CNC controllers and related key components from Mitsubishi Electric in the year to come and the Japanese concern will offer such high-tier products as M700-series CNC controllers coupled with integration of manufacturing techniques to help the Taiwanese partner upgrade product level.

Huang said his company is standing in a transition period with an aim to concentrate on multi-stack CNC lathes, which require powerful CNC system to develop their sophisticated functions in machining jobs. Since last year, Quick-Tech has been procuring Mitsubishi Electric's M70-series CNC controllers to facilitate its production of multi-stack CNC lathes. In an effort to upgrade products, Quick-Tech asked Mitsubishi Electric to ensure a steady supply of higher-tier CNC controllers, leading to the inking of the alliance deal.

Mazaki noted with services network well-established worldwide, his company would do its best to support Quick-Tech's prospective development in developing high-tier products. He said Mitsubishi is a world-class brand with specialization in the sophisticated machining functions for multi-stack CNC lathes that can fully meet Quick-Tech's ambition to develop the high-tier products. He said the deal with Quick-Tech will help both sides create a win-win situation.
