March 26, 2008 -- Iran Khodro, Iran's auto manufacturing giant, says it plans to increase annual auto production capacity to 1,080,000 by 2011.
Iran Khodro industrial group managed to break its own production record for the fifteenth time by manufacturing 525,172 vehicles in 2007, said Iran Khodro's managing director, Manouchehr Manteqi. Iran Khodro produces Iran's first national private vehicle, the Samand, which is exported to various countries, including Russia and Syria and is the largest automobile producer in the Middle East, having manufactured 2,800,000 vehicles in the past six years.
