April 25, 2008 -- The market share of home-made numerically-controlled machine tools has grown rapidly from 21 per cent to 48 per cent in 2007, and 2007 witnessed the fastest growth, according to the China Association of Machine Tool Industry. China produced 123,000 sets of numerically-controlled metal cutting machine tools in 2007, this beats the target of 100,000 sets for 2010 three years ahead of the schedule. Its numerically-controlled machine tool output ranks first in the world.
From 2001 to 2007, China produced an accumulated 2.74 million sets of metal cutting machine tools including 400,000 sets of numerically-controlled machine tools. The variety of numerically-controlled machine tools has evolved from several hundred to nearly 2,000, and China has successfully developed a new batch of high-level products of numerically-controlled machine tools, with various numerically-controlled compound processing machine tools more eyecatching in particular.
