May 5, 2008 -- U.K. aerospace company and machine tool supplier Hampson Industries said it will spend up to $314 million on two privately held Michigan-based makers of aerospace parts. Hampson is acquiring Odyssey Industries Inc. of Lake Orion and Global Tooling Systems Inc. of Utica. The deal eliminates major competitors to Hampson's own Irvine, Calif.-based Coast Industries Inc. unit and will expand the U.K. group's sales by around half. Brierley Hill, England-based Hampson has been steadily acquiring North American makers of aerospace components and machine tools that use carbon composites.
