
Technology Transition as a Continuous Process Improvement Workshop Update
July 24-26 Scranton, Pennsylvania
Ann Arbor, Mich. – June 29, 2007 — The Tobyhanna Army Depot (TYAD) will be co-hosting a combined workshop of the Joint Technologies Exchange Group (JTEG) and the Commercial Technologies for Maintenance Activities (CTMA). The theme for this workshop is “Technology Transition as a Continuous Process Improvement (CPI).” This workshop is intended to bring together DoD’s maintenance community to share current and future trends and successes in CPI initiatives, highlight current technology initiatives and identify funding opportunities for needed depot maintenance technologies.
The workshop will be held at the historic Lackawanna Station Hotel, Scranton, Pa. on 24-26 July 2007.
The workshop keynote speaker will be Col. Ric Sherman, Office of the Assistant Deputy Under Secretary of Defense for Materiel Readiness and Maintenance Policy. Col. Sherman chairs the Condition-based Maintenance Plus (CBM+) Integrated Product Team for DoD. The plenary session will also include speakers on Air Force Smart Operations for the 21st Century, or AFSO21, an institutionalize Air Force continuous process improvement program and NAVAIR AIRSpeed, a tailored set of best business practices designed for service depots to be utilized by a transformational Navy with demands for newer and faster technologies.
Agenda Update
A Mini Item Unique Identification (IUID) Depot Maintenance Customer Day has been added to the agenda on July 26, 2007. IUID is a system of distinguishing one object from another by creating a globally unique item identifier, allowing DoD to track and differentiate every item from other items. Who should attend?
