Dealing with OSHA

Materials on typical generic safety programs required by OSHA and available free to AMT members are:

Lockout/Tagout including the training requirements - contains the OSHA standard, OSHA inspection procedures, and a copy of a generic lockout procedure.
Hazard Waste Communication Guidelines for Compliance - contains a generic written program you can tailor to fit your company and also OSHA’s inspection procedure.
Waste Minimization in Metal Parts Cleaning - a 50-page EPA booklet with suggested methods of minimization and a listing of resources.
OSHA Handbook for Small Businesses - a 50-page booklet that includes a four-point program and 35 pages of self-inspection checklists.
Employee Safety Handbook – a generic customizable handbook to be given to your employees.

Free consultations, inspections and advice are available in many states and will NOT trigger an OSHA inspection. These additional sources of help are listed in the OSHA Handbook for Small Businesses (see above).
