SkillsUSA National Precision Machining Technology Championship

  SkillsUSA Official Sponsor 2007

SkillsUSA (formerly VICA) prepares America's high performance workers and provides quality education experiences for students in leadership, teamwork, citizenship, and character development.

Approximately 13,000 teachers and school administrators serve as professional SkillsUSA members and instructors. More than 1,000 corporations, trade associations (including AMT) and labor unions actively support SkillsUSA on a national level through financial aid, in-kind contributions, and involvement of their people in SkillsUSA activities.

The Precision Machining Technology (PMT) Competition at SkillsUSA is based on the National Institute for Metalworking Skills (NIMS) - skills standards, and is designed by industry leaders who are committed to attracting new highly skilled workers to a dignified career in precision machining.

Numerous AMT members play a key role in planning and conducting the PMT competition held at the annual national level SkillsUSA Championships. Members support this activity by designing the competition projects and giving technical assistance; acting as judges; providing machinery, tooling, and materials; sponsoring awards as well as acting as manufacturing career ambassadors to the more than 12,000 people that attend the Championships.

Other AMT member companies are active in their local communities working with their local schools to establish or strengthen a SkillsUSA Chapter.  AMT encourages member participation and will assist anyone willing to help in this worthwhile effort to attract and prepare qualified people to the industry.
