IMTS issued a press release on April 27, 2006 announcing that AMT - The Association For Manufacturing Technology entered a strategic alliance with the National Institute for Metalworking Skills (NIMS) to prepare today's youth for tomorrow's workforce. As a result of this alliance NIMS has assumed management of the Student Summit at IMTS.
The Student Summit at IMTS focuses on career opportunities in the manufacturing technology industry and exposes both students and educators to the latest manufacturing technology. It provides a unique opportunity for industry representatives and students/educators to interface. Student-friendly exhibitors agree to welcome students into their booth and provide a spokesperson to explain their technology and discuss industry career options.
The Student Summit embraces students and educators from middle schools, high schools, technical/community colleges, apprenticeship programs, and universities. Students and educators in manufacturing technology, engineering, math, science and industrial distribution programs will find the Student Summit at IMTS very beneficial. Career counselors and school administrators will also benefit.
Registration is free to any student, student group, educator, or school administrator. On-line registration is available for educators with groups of students only. Individual students must register on-site at the Student Summit in the South Hall, room S103.
