July 14, 2014 – USMTO News Release for May Manufacturing Technology Orders

May U.S. manufacturing technology orders totaled $351.93 million according to AMT – The Association For Manufacturing Technology. This total, as reported by companies participating in the USMTO program, was down 10.0% from April and down 17.5% when compared with the total of $426.40 million reported for May 2013. With a year-to-date total of $1,971.83 million, 2014 is down 1.4% compared with 2013. (more)

U.S. Cutting Tool Consumption Down 3.5% in May

May U.S. cutting tool consumption totaled $169 million, according to the U.S. Cutting Tool Institute and AMT – The Association For Manufacturing Technology. This total, as reported by companies participating in the Cutting Tool Market Report (CTMR) collaboration, was down 3.5 percent from April’s total and down 4.4 percent from May 2013.  (more)

AMT Signs Multi-Industry Letter to Congress Supporting Ex-Im Bank

AMT joined NAM, the US Chamber of Commerce plus over 800 other companies and organizations in a letter to Congress supporting reauthorization of the Ex-Im Bank. The Bank's Charter expires on September 30. (more)

AMT Joins NFIB & Business Association Leaders Urging Congressional Action on Sec. 179 Expensing

Today, AMT joined the NFIB and 150+ business associations on a multi-industry letter to the U.S. House of Representatives calling for passage of permanent increased Sec. 179 expensing. Despite broad bipartisan support, Sec. 179 fell from $500,000 to $25,000 this year because previous extensions were temporary. H.R. 4457, the America's Small Business Tax Relief Act of 2014, would provide small businesses with expensing levels that are permanent, predictable and at a level adequate to their needs. (more)
