12 March 2010e-News from Washington (March 12, 2010)A one-year extension of the R&D tax credit moved a step closer to enactment when the Senate approved its $140 billion tax extenders bill. Also this week, the President met with a group of lawmakers on climate change legislation, while governors from 18 states urged Congress to stop the EPA's regulation of greenhouse gas emissions. 08 March 2010March 8, 2010 - USMTC News Release for January Manufacturing Technology ConsumptionJanuary U.S. manufacturing technology consumption totaled $130.96 million, according to AMTDA, the American Machine Tool Distributors’ Association, and AMT - The Association For Manufacturing Technology. This total, as reported by companies participating in the USMTC program, was down 40.3% from December but up 26.2% from the total of $103.77 million reported for January 2009. (more) |

24 February 2010Year-End 2009 Industrial Lasers Down 45 Percent from 2008Orders of industrial laser equipment and systems in 2009 are reported at $259.9 million, a decrease of 45.3 percent from 2008, according to AMT - The Association For Manufacturing Technology. The report compiled from 19 manufacturers and distributors shows that the value of orders of CO2 lasers fell 47.6 percent. Nd:YAG orders showed a decline of 17.9 percent. CO2 orders totaled $229.3 million, and Nd:YAG lasers totaled $30.3 million. (more) |
