House to Vote on Health Care Reform - Write Your Members of Congress Today

A House vote on comprehensive health care reform could occur very soon. Many Members of Congress are still undecided. Now is the time to make your voice heard. AMT opposes any reform that adds to the high cost and heavy regulatory burden already placed on U.S. manufacturers. Let your Members of Congress know that now is not the time to be adding to the taxes and regulatory costs borne by American manufacturers. (more)

Manufacturing Matters - Video of Doug Woods at IMTS Exhibitor Workshop

AMT’s Manufacturing Mandate proposes a solution as to how the Government can help to strengthen the U.S. manufacturing industry. Doug Woods discusses the current barriers to growth and the obstacles that the industry faces. Those include a lack of access to credit, uncertainty in terms of tax burdens, and trade/regulation difficulties. Part of the solution is to use existing infrastructure to develop a Science Technology Innovation Diffusion system. The plan would call for technology, funding programs, and coordinated policy to flow through existing Manufacturing Extension Program (MEP) sites, while market data, industry performance information, and innovation breakthroughs flow back to the manufacturing technology industry. (more)

March 8, 2010 - USMTC News Release for January Manufacturing Technology Consumption

January U.S. manufacturing technology consumption totaled $130.96 million, according to AMTDA, the American Machine Tool Distributors’ Association, and AMT - The Association For Manufacturing Technology.  This total, as reported by companies participating in the USMTC program, was down 40.3% from December but up 26.2% from the total of $103.77 million reported for January 2009. (more)
