Exports for YTD 2008 totaled $2,065.6 million, an increase of 16.8% when compared to the same period of 2007. Monthly machine tool imports valued $395 million in October, up 1.6% from Septembers' total of $388.9 million. Imports for YTD 2008 totaled $4,309.1 million, an increase of 14.9% when compared to the same period for 2007.

USMTC Detail Summary Report
December 8, 2008 – October U.S. manufacturing technology consumption totaled $273.85 million, according to AMT - The Association For Manufacturing Technology and AMTDA, the American Machine Tool Distributors’ Association. This total, as reported by companies participating in the USMTC program, was down 43.4% from September and down 32.3% from the total of $404.36 million reported for October 2007. With a year-to-date total of $3,802.41 million, 2008 is up 8.2% compared with 2007.
