May 9, 2008 - Shipments of workholding equipment from the United States were $63.6 million for first quarter 2008, up 4.4 percent from first quarter 2007, according to the Advanced Workholding Technology (AWT) Group, formerly the Workholding Product Group (WPG) of AMT - The Association For Manufacturing Technology.

May 5, 2008 - Robert K. Simpson Named AMT President
Robert K. Simpson will become the President of AMT – The Association For Manufacturing Technology, on October 7, 2008, the AMT Board of Directors announced today. Simpson will join the association on June 2 and work in transition with President John B. Byrd III, who will retire after five years at AMT.

April 14, 2008 – USMTC News Release for February Manufacturing Technology Consumption
February U.S. manufacturing technology consumption totaled $308.50 million, according to AMT - The Association For Manufacturing Technology and AMTDA, the American Machine Tool Distributors’ Association. This total, as reported by companies participating in the USMTC program, was down 4.0% from January, but up 4.4% from the total of $295.39 million reported for February 2007. With a year-to-date total of $624.28 million, 2008 is up 1.2% compared with 2007.

March 10, 2008 – USMTC News Release for January Manufacturing Technology Consumption
January U.S. manufacturing technology consumption totaled $308.73 million, according to AMTDA, the American Machine Tool Distributors’ Association, and AMT - The Association For Manufacturing Technology. This total, as reported by companies participating in the USMTC program, was down 26.1% from December, and down 4.0% from the total of $321.50 million reported for January 2007.
