First Quarter 2009 Industrial Laser Shipments
July 1, 2009 - Orders of industrial laser equipment and systems in first quarter 2009 are reported at $58.8 million, a decrease of 38.2 percent from fourth quarter 2008, according to AMT - The Association For Manufacturing Technology. Orders within North America totaled $45.9 million, while exports amounted to approximately $12.9 million. By dollar value, laser systems consisting of a source and workstation made up 87.9 percent of orders. Measured by units, systems accounted for 61.1 percent of units.

June 8, 2009 - USMTC News Release for April Manufacturing Technology Consumption
April U.S. manufacturing technology consumption totaled $97.04 million, according to AMT - The Association For Manufacturing Technology and AMTDA, the American Machine Tool Distributors’ Association. This total, as reported by companies participating in the USMTC program, was down 41.5% from March and down 77.7% from the total of $435.34 million reported for April 2008. With a year-to-date total of $497.40 million, 2009 is down 70.7% compared with 2008.

March U.S. manufacturing technology consumption totaled $162.94 million, according to AMTDA, the American Machine Tool Distributors’ Association, and AMT - The Association For Manufacturing Technology. This total, as reported by companies participating in the USMTC program, was up 22.3% from February but down 71.9% from the total of $579.73 million reported for March 2008. With a year-to-date total of $397.56 million, 2009 is down 68.6% compared with 2008.
