LEADING ASSOCIATIONS URGE CONGRESS TO EXTEND BUSINESS INVESTMENT INCENTIVES November 17, 2008 - AMT - The Association For Manufacturing Technology joined 22 leading national trade associations in calling on Congress and the President to extend the capital investment incentives included in the 2008 Economic Stimulus Act. Technology Producers to Congress: Reduce Business Taxes, Extend Bonus Depreciation to Give Relief to Economy November 17 , 2008 — AMT - The Association For Manufacturing Technology is urging Congress to ease tax burdens on American manufacturing in its effort to strengthen the American economy — including extending the temporary expensing provisions that Congress offered businesses that expire at the end of the year. President Bush Signs $700B Economic Recovery Bill October 3, 2008 - President Bush signed the Emergency Economic Stabilization Act of 2008 (H.R. 1424) approved by the House and Senate earlier in the week.  Included in the legislation are extensions of important expired or expiring tax provisions, including the R&D tax credit. BEA Release Shows Widespread Growth In Metropolitan Areas September 25, 2008 -  Newly available statistics released today by the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis show that real GDP by U.S. metropolitan area grew to 3.2 percent in 2006, slightly greater than the 3.1 percent growth in 2005.  Click here for the BEA news release. Treasury Secretary Testifies on Financial Crisis September 25, 2008 - U.S. Treasury Secretary Henry M. Paulson, Jr., testified before the House Financial Services Committee on the financial crisis currently threatening the U.S. economy.  Click here for the text of Secretary Paulson's testimony. GDP Increased 3.3% in the Second Quarter August 28, 2008 - According to the Bureau of Economic Analysis, real gross domestic product (GDP) increased at an annual rate of 3.3% in the second quarter.  Real GDP rose just 0.9% in the first quarter.
