Highlights of the GAO Export Control Study Results
December 6, 2006 - The U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO) has issued the results of its study on export controls and export controlled information. They suggest that export controlled information (rather than physical goods) may not be sufficiently protected. GAO recommends that the Commerce and State Departments assess this vulnerability and improve guidance for protecting export-controlled information at companies. Read the full report.

August 17, 2006 - The Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) has organized a series of public briefing sessions around the country to explain in greater detail the recent Notice of Proposed Rule Making (NPRM) concerning exports to China.

Bureau of Economic Analysis Releases July 2005 Trade Data
September 13, 2005 - The U.S. Census Bureau and the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis, through the Department of Commerce, announced today that total July exports of $106.2 billion and imports of $164.2 billion resulted in a goods and services deficit of $57.9 billion, $1.6 billion less than the $59.5 billion in June, revised.
