- Leads trade missions to countries with significant market potential.
- Assists in developing relationships with key embassies and consulates worldwide.
- Provides information about specific International trade opportunities.
- Staffs information booths and AMT/USA pavilions at major international trade shows.

- Exhibitions provides a marketing and sales vehicle for reaching targeted qualified buyers.

- Manages AMT/USA Pavilions at trade shows in China, Mexico and other markets outside of the United States.
- APEX (Advanced Productivity Exposition). A series of U.S. regional trade shows cosponsored and promoted by AMT, the Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME), and the American Machine Tool Distributors’ Association (AMTDA).

Meetings and Conferences

- Plans the AMT Annual Meeting held each fall. The election of the AMT Board of Directors takes place at this meeting.
- Provides all housing needs at IMTS and other international shows in which the AMT membership participates, as well as any show related events and meetings.
- Plans the Forecasting & Global Marketing Conference. At this meeting noted economists speak about the industry and analyze specific customer markets.
- Plans all other meetings during the year that address the interests of specific segments of the membership or specific functions such as finance, human resources or customer service.

- Directs the content, design and production of AMT's communications with its various publics, including the Association's newspaper AMT NEWS and all AMT websites.
- Designs, develops and directs communication projects such as speeches, presentations and position papers.
- Directs the activities to market and promote membership in the Association, including new member programs and membership retention initiatives.
- Acts as an industry advocate and resource to promote the manufacturing technology industries to the Association's various audiences, and at the direction of the President, represents the Association and industry to various external groups.
- Manages AMT trademarks.

- Compiles economic reports on the global manufacturing technology industry and many customer industries. Continuously updates the web-based Market Penetration Guides for the top 20 geographic markets for manufacturing technology.
- Manages USMTC (U.S. Manufacturing Technology Consumption Report), the industry’s number one source for specific machine tool market data. This joint monthly statistical report by AMT and AMTDA (The American Machine Tool Distributors’ Association) is a basic indicator of business activity.
- Industry Analysts assist members with customized research to expand business, aid in strategic planning and support member marketing plans.

Technology

- Assists members with a wide range of information and research activities on equipment, technical, engineering, and safety matters.
- Advises on technology trends, Research and Development (R&D) opportunities and funding sources, etc.
- Sponsors and participates in many advisory groups and committees to gather technical data and guide the research community in the promotion of manufacturing technology in the U.S.
- Promotes the Smart Machine Platform Initiative - an industry, government and academic program to develop the enabling technologies necessary to allow manufacturing equipment to make the decisions based on acquired knowledge to produce a first part correct without unscheduled delays.
- Secretariat for the development and ratification of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) series of machine tool safety standards (B11 series).
- Provides support to the development of international standards for machine tool products.
