NFPA 79 – Electrical Standard for Industrial Machinery
This is the U.S. design standard for the electrical safety of industrial machinery. The purpose of the standard is to provide detailed information for the application of electrical/electronic equipment, apparatus, or systems supplied as part of industrial machines that will promote safety to life and property. The provision of this standard are intended for the designer.
This standard is part of the National Electric Code (NEC) and may refer often to the code.

IEC 60204-1 Safety of Machinery – Electrical Equipment of Machines – Part 1: General Requirements
This is the European Union design standard for the electrical safety of industrial machinery. This is part one (1) of IEC 60204 and applies to the application of electrical, electronic and programmable electronic equipment and systems to machines not portable by hand while working, including a group of machines working together in a coordinated manner.
