AMT and Gardner Business Media Announce Evolution of MT United Commercial Agreement

May 21, 2026

McLean, VA and Cincinnati, OH — AMT - The Association For Manufacturing Technology and Gardner Business Media (GBM) today announced the planned evolution of their partnership. AMT will transition all AMT/IMTS-related sales responsibilities to an in-house team starting with the IMTS 2028 sales cycle. At the same time, AMT and GBM will continue discussions to identify new partnership opportunities that build on more than 40 years of collaboration in support of the manufacturing technology industry.

“This partnership has created real value for both organizations and has played an important role in advancing our industry,” said Douglas K. Woods, President of AMT. “What began as a transactional collaboration decades ago evolved into a deeper commercial partnership through MT United, helping strengthen IMTS, expand industry engagement, and create meaningful success for both AMT and Gardner.”

As the manufacturing media, events, research, and sponsorship landscape continues to evolve, both organizations have broadened their product portfolios and increased the importance of direct ownership of growth functions. AMT and GBM agreed that updating the commercial structure now positions each organization to execute with greater focus and speed while continuing to collaborate strategically where it creates the most value.

The decision is a strategic business step designed to support future growth and sharpen alignment. Bringing sales responsibilities in-house enables AMT to build a dedicated sales engine fully aligned with its mission and with the long-term growth of IMTS.

At the same time, it enables GBM to further focus on platform evolution and development in the areas where it is strongest and most differentiated. The organizations will continue to explore additional partnership formats beyond a sales structure.

“We’ve had the privilege of working alongside AMT and supporting IMTS for many years, and it’s a relationship we truly value," said Rick Kline Jr., President, Gardner Business Media. We’re grateful for their trust and proud of what we’ve accomplished together in service of the manufacturing community. While this change marks the end of one chapter, other important aspects of our partnership with AMT will continue—benefiting both organizations and, more importantly, the market we serve. IMTS remains vital to the industry, and we’re fully committed to its continued success. This transition also creates new opportunity for Gardner. With added sales capacity, we can invest more deeply in our core markets, strengthen key relationships, and pursue new ways to better serve manufacturers across the ecosystem.”

The organizations will work collaboratively to support a thoughtful transition and to maintain continuity for customers and partners.
