After a Better-Than-Usual November, 2025 Orders Beat 2024 in 11 Months

New orders of metalworking machinery totaled $437.9 million in November 2025. This represented a 19.6% decrease from October and nearly equaled the orders in November 2024. Orders through November 2025 have increased 17.8% over the first 11 months of 2024.

Measuring automation has historically been about as easy as defining it. One tactic is to look at the gap between the average value of new machinery orders and the underlying machinery's inflation rate. Doing so, we can infer that the cumulative annual demand for automation through November 2025 grew by 63.4% over the first 11 months of 2024.
