Economics & Statistics Committee Seeking New Members

by AMT
Mar 16, 2026

AMT – The Association For Manufacturing Technology is looking for new members to join the Economics & Statistics Committee, which continues to focus on making AMT data more useful, relevant, and forward-looking for members navigating a rapidly changing manufacturing landscape. Recently, the committee approved updated cylindrical grinding classifications within the U.S. Manufacturing Technology Orders Program – changes that are already in place for 2026 data collection and are helping improve visibility into how grinding equipment is actually being used today. The committee also supported expanding automation reporting within USMTO, recognizing machine-tending robots as a key component of machine tool automation while ensuring core machine tool market data remains consistent and reliable. In addition, the committee actively oversees AMT’s effort to overhaul and rebuild the Workholding Statistical Program website, including rebasing index values to improve relevance and enhancing usability to better support participants and data users. Looking ahead, the E&S committee is aligning its work with AMT’s 2030 strategic goals, including feedback on industry reports, advancing robot reporting, completing the workholding website rebuild, and continuing to enhance the MTForecast conference to deliver even more practical, actionable insights for members. If you’re skilled at using industry data to make informed business decisions and are interested in serving our industry as part of the Economics and Statistics Committee, please contact Ian Stringer, the committee’s staff liaison and AMT’s vice president of data strategies, at istringer@AMTonline.org.
