The China CNC Machine Tool Fair (CCMT) 2026 was held in Shanghai on April 21-25 at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre. According to the China Machine Tool Builders' Association (CMTBA), the successful show occupied all of the venue’s 17 halls and one temporary hall, with total exhibition space reaching just over 200,000 square meters and net exhibition space exceeding 120,000 square meters.
Participation was broad and international. A total of 2,030 exhibitors from 27 countries and regions participated, with 10 countries and regions organizing official pavilions. Mainland Chinese exhibitors represented the largest contingent by a wide margin, followed by delegations from Germany, Taiwan, Japan, Switzerland, Italy, Korea, Hong Kong, Spain, the Czech Republic, and the United States.
Attendance figures reflected strong industry engagement. Total attendance reached 271,247 – a 13% increase over CCMT 2024 – while professional visitors grew by nearly 23% compared to the previous edition, all record highs. Exhibitor satisfaction was similarly strong, with the vast majority reporting that the show met or exceeded their expectations for organizer management, visitor quality, and overall results.
During the show, CMTBA officially announced that CIMT 2027, the 20th China International Machine Tool Show and now the world's largest machine tool exhibition, will be held in Beijing on April 19-24, 2027.
At the project level, several recently announced investments reflect continued momentum across key manufacturing sectors:
In electric vehicles, NIO Automobile is investing in a new facility in Anhui for stamping, welding, coating, and assembly, targeting an annual output of 300,000 battery-electric passenger vehicles. Construction is expected to run through late 2027. Foton Automobile, another automaker, is establishing a transmission production line to manufacture five-speed manual, six-speed manual, automated manual, and hybrid transmissions.
In energy and electrification, Wuxi Xing Qu Technology is planning a significant investment to manufacture ultra-high voltage systems and integrated e-drive units, with a targeted annual output of 150,000 units.
Sany Wind Energy Manufacturing, based in Tianjin, is investing in a digitized smart manufacturing center, with construction expected to conclude by the end of 2026.
In robotics and drones, Ningbo Shu Sheng Sci. & Tech. is planning a substantial investment in manufacturing core components for robots and drones, continuing a trend of capital flowing into China's fast-growing automation and unmanned systems sectors.
In the machine tool industry, Hunan Fu Hong CNC Machine Tool Co. is investing in the production of 2,000 5-axis CNC machines and 1,000 gantry-type CNC machining centers per year. The project reflects ongoing domestic demand for high-precision machining equipment.
In additive manufacturing, Shaanxi Chao Wei Technology is establishing a dedicated additive manufacturing production line, adding to a growing body of Chinese investment in next-generation production technologies.
